Desmond Williams has been a professional engineer, producer, and musician for over 20 years. He is known for his intricate and Dub infused production style as well as his collaborations with Scientist, Sugar Minot, Midnite, Thievery Corporation, Thunderball, Blue States, See-I, and Morel. After releasing his debut album "Delights of the Garden", Desmond left the Eighteenth Street Lounge label to form Rhythm & Culture Recordings with Farid Ali. After the release of a few 12"s, including the highly acclaimed "Browntempo" with Phil Brooks (formerly of Avatars of Dub), Desmond decided that it was time to take a hiatus from producing music. He took time out to release a cover version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" with Morel (formerly of Deep Dish) in 2006.

In 2008, Desmond returned to the music scene with his long awaited collaboration with Midnite vocalist, Vaughn Benjamin. The album is called Kayamagan and it has been hailed as one of the best roots reggae albums to come out in years. This album was actually recorded in 1999 and was Vaughn's first collaborative effort. It was remixed and remastered by Desmond, who played virtually all of the instruments and composed all of the music, and released in the spring of 2008 on the Rastafaria label. Desmond is currently mixing the follow up which is tentatively titled, "Six Points on a Man", which will feature a vinyl EP release in early 2009 with the full length CD to follow soon after.

In 2008 Desmond formed his own record label - Dreadstar Music. The first release is his debut album, "Delights of the Garden", which was originall released on ESL Music. After being out of print for several years, it is finally available for digital download on iTunes, Amazon MP3 and most other digital retailers. A full list of retailers can be found on the releases page of this website. The next release will be a collection of tracks that were previously released and available only on vinyl called "Bee Sides - The Lost Tracks". For the first time these tracks will be available to the public for digital download. Also in the works is a new full length CD, tentatively title "The Big Broadcast" which will feature new tracks by Desmond. Now that he has made a return to the music scene we can expect a great deal of new music from this notoriously prolific artist.
